Marella Cruises, The former Thomson or TUI cruises create truly British cruise holidays. So when Marella Explorer Launched in May 2018, they decided to launch the largest ship in the fleet with a capacity of 1,924 passengers. The fleet as a whole, the ship is billed as all-inclusive (in that alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, food and tips are included).

There are 10 restaurants, half of which are free. Included in your fare, along with the Market Place and Snack Shack are Latitude 53, Mediterranean’s pizza, Tapas and Vista’s Italian cuisine. A cover charge gets you the likes of Surf and Turf steakhouse, Umi Sushi and the French extravagance of The Dining Club.

Marella Explorer are admired for their professional and super friendly entertainment offerings and Explorer marks another step forward! During the day the entertainment crew are up on the pool deck in the central podium pretty much ll day organising pool games, activities and fun competitions. They also host the sail-away. You’ll also find live music up here during the day.

Marella Explorer has gone for an understated look and feel, with light browns, beige and burnt orange, colour palette throughout. The result is elegant and stylish and all come with the expected basics such as a safe, mini-bar, hair dryer, flat-screen TV, etc. There are also some brand-new Family Cabins on Explorer and a large number of interconnecting cabins across all cabin categories.

Its worth noting that all the cabins across all categories are generous in size. There are a lot of insides and outside that offer 4 people (Pullman bed) options and good accessible options too.

Interestingly there are two types of balcony cabins, one with a larger balcony, which are new to the line and come in at 16 square metres apiece, each with a 12-square-metre balcony boasting a hammock and a small table and two chairs. There are also some 20 square meter Family Balcony cabins all at the aft of the ship, meaning they enjoy wonderful views of the wake. Included is what’s called Premier Service, with the following perks: priority check-in, free pressing service and free Continental breakfast in bed on one day of the cruise.
