  11. I work as a security officer on a passenger ferry between Helsinki and Stockholm. Sometimes it's hard, but every job has its advantages and disadvantages.
My goal is to study hospitality management in college and apply for land-based jobs in RCCL.

  13. I think I would even like a job on one of the Royal Caribbean cruise ships. I haven't ever gotten to go on a cruise ship yet, but from what I've seen on You Tube videos of all Royal Caribbean's cruise ships, I haven't been able to help being a fan of their ships. I really can't help feeling their cruise ships are the best. I feel sure that the reason I still never came across any news video about any disasters with any of Royal Caribbean's cruise ships, is because they really have higher cruise quality standards with safety, as well as with entertainment, fun things to do, and the food. I hope I would be able to have things work out money wise in the near enough future to take a cruise on one of Royal Caribbean's ships. I'd especially like to be on Quantum Of The Seas.

  14. You don't have to be that smart to get a job on RCCL it seems. I was on a cruise to NZ from SYD. We paid the extra to get a really nice cabin. We are not rich, but when on holiday we like to spend the extra $ for it to be special. Problem is that the top cabins are on deck 10. Above deck 10 is an open type deck are with tables and chairs etc. i was worried that these would be noisy but I thought by the time I am ready to sleep most foot traffic should be stopped. So i was a bit apprehensive on the first night to see how noisy it would be. At ten past one in the morning I woke to very loud banging. I thought some one was trying to break the door down, at first. It lasted some minutes, I thought something must be wrong for this type of noise at this time in the morning. The noise stopped for a few minutes and I thought that was the end to it. It started again, I got dressed and went up to the deck above. I couldn't believe my eyes, there were two maintenance guys using a 5lb sledge hammer on the deck, right above our suite. He was swinging this thing into the deck and the noise was incredible. Bear in mind this is basically the roof of our cabin at 1:10 in the morning. I lost my shit, I said something along the lines "WTF do you think you are doing? It's 1 in the morning and you are slamming a sledgehammer right above our room" he just looked confused and muttered "so sorry".
I apologise to RCCL that think before they act and have a clue, and the rest of the crew/staff interactions were fantastic, but this incident really amazed me. The fact is, these two guys had absolutely no situational awareness of where they where working and the implications of their actions. I work in an incredibly noisy and busy environment all week, all year, so I value my peace and quiet. I can't expect that on a cruise ship during the day, fair play, but at 1am, it should be a given.

  19. From what I understand it's long hours for not a lot of money (by American standards), but for people from other countries they do pretty well. It's certainly not a vacation since crew members are bogged down with a lot of work. Though you can make an adventure out of it if you do it for a short period of time, don't think that this is a long term gig unless you plan on getting to officer status.

  21. I'm interested to work in this company its my dream to be part of the Royal Caribbean Cruise International and it makes me feel more excited that this dream of mine will be given a chance in the coming days. I love traveling and meeting people, plus I love to experience different cultures and entertain and serve people. Despite what the others users negative comments about this cruise company will that's their opinion and I respect that. I believe that life has two faces and that is to chose to be happy or you let the situation to live sourgraping, complaining and live in so much negativity and being miserable. I want to work in a cruise ship cause that what my heart tells me and I have passion in everything I do.
