Hurricane Irma Cruise Ships Fleeing Fort Lauderdale Florida! Cruises Cancelled!
Hurricane Irma Cruise Ships Fleeing Fort Lauderdale Florida! Cruises Cancelled! All cruises in and out of Miami and Fort Lauderdale have been re-scheduled or cancelled with Hurricane Irma setting it’s sights on Florida. The storm surge could be as high as 20 feet and may cause major damage to Miami and Fort Lauderdale. Airports have had over 2000 flights cancelled already, and the state of Florida has ordered residents to leave the area.
Once the storm passes, it is unclear if the port facilities will reopen right away as the storm surge may knock out power and damage terminal buildings. Airports may not be reopened either so new passangers can’t get in and departing cruise passangers can’t get out. Car rental agencies will not have any cars left in all of south Florida to avoid them being flooded out, so renting a car is not going to be an option.
Bus lines will be off line, trains will not be running. Water, food and shelter may not be available in all area after the storm passes. Cruise passangers will have to contact their travel agents or their cruise lines for further updates.
